Leyla was a rescue labrador pup from San Francisco. She came to me shy and so very sweet. It was not long before she become my shadow. As a pup her favorite resting place was on my shoulders when I sat on the couch or chair. She tried this when she was around 40 lbs but much to her dismay it just was not comfortable. Leyla was my fishing partner and hunting partner and of course in my eyes was the best. When duck hunting if I misssed the duck she would just look at me and I know she was thinking "thanks" she now had nothing to retreive! When I worked she hung out with my Mom's labs so she had lots of friends. Leyla had a wonderful mellow temperment, and when I became a Dad a few years ago she happy to share me (Up until then we were a twosome). She was so tolerant and loving of a toddler who sat on her, gave her big hugs and used her like a racetrack to play with his cars but that was who she was. She enjoyed those toddler hugs so much. I will always have her memories which right now do not seem like enough but I know in time it will get easier. I know she is right now playing with her friends Duffie, Sassy, Bud and Cinder in the big park in the sky. Her wagging tail and kisses I will always remember. I could not have had a better best friend.
